Honestly, I prefer Next Dimension from the story end, it's just the real world pacing that's the issue, since Kurumada's getting older. The movie had great visuals, great music, and great voice acting, so I appreciate it for all of that.but I just have too many problems with it from the story perspective. They definitively don't look like armor.Īlso, the ending was something I was not a fan of, the whole reset thing.

Simplified visuals help with easier animation, I get that, these designs I just felt went a bit too far. The Angels didn't really feel all that impressive visually. Felt like they were trying to avoid spoiling the Hades arc.but then why not just make the movie after finishing Hades then? At least the last time Saori let herself get captured it was because she planned to lure out Hades' True Body to kill him forever, but this? I just remember thinking ".what?! WHY?! Fight her!".Īlso, we never really got an explanation as to why Athena was sans Cloth and the Bronze Saints had no God Cloths. She mostly just lets Artemis take over, way to have agency in the story. It just doesn't lend itself well to a tight budget. Saint Seiya needs to be free of Toei's clutches.

Netflix's KotZ is an alright retelling of the series, but too basic visually - not to talk about the truly breakneck pacing. But the severely reduced animation budget and overall shit drawings just crippled it entirely. Soul of Gold is interesting, watched it some months ago. S2 tried to do a 180 on the cloths' part, but the damage was already done (and the new cloth designs were truly horrendous). It mixed a fucked up version of the cloths' concept with Sailor Moon jewelry, Naruto ninjas and Pokémon elemental mechanics (forgotten soon after). Omega was an unmitigated disaster made by people who didn't even try to understand wtf Saint Seiya was. Lost Canvas was a silver lining while I tried to tolerate Next Dimension's inane bullshit while waiting for the OFFICIAL CONTINUATION to finally start, but the franchise just fell off the radar for me after LC Anecdotes ended circa 2015. This was the start of the downfall for me.
